ICSA Coed Dinghy Conditions

SCHEDULING:

This event shall be scheduled by the assigned Conference for the period between May 15 and June 30. The scheduled period shall not exceed three(3) days in length, ordinarily beginning on a Friday. The morning of the first day shall be used for a Skippers' Meeting and practice. The first race of the event shall be scheduled for not later than 12:00 noon of the first day. No race shall be started later than 5:00 p.m. on the last day.

ENTRANTS:

The number of entrants awarded to each Regular Member Conference shall be based on the number of eligible schools reported by each Member Conference in its Annual Report to the Secretary.

The number of berths per Conference shall be calculated using the following formula, rounding off the answer to the nearest whole number (.5 shall be rounded up):

Should the application of the formula result in the awarding of more than 16 berths, the President shall reallocate the berths. In the event of reallocation, each Regular Member Conference shall receive at least one berth.

In addition, there shall be 2 at-large entrants selected by the President, for a total of 18 berths. These shall be selected by the President after the conclusion of all Conference Dinghy Championships. No Conference shall receive more than a total of 5 berths.

ELIGIBILITY:

(Refer to the General Conditions for National Intercollegiate Championships).

PARTICIPANTS:

Each contesting college is required to have a minimum of four(4) team members --two skippers and two crews .

BOATS:

The event shall be sailed in two-person dinghies of not less than 11 feet, nor more than 15 feet, in length. The boats may be either sloop or cat-rigged. The use of two fleets of boats (one for each division) is permitted.

REGATTA FORMAT:

The event shall be sailed in two divisions using a round-robin change-of-boat format. A team from each college shall sail each boat in the event at least once. If two different types of boats are used, the fleet assigned to a given division shall be switched half way, or following the race which marks the half-way point in the rotation.

TROPHIES:

The winning team's names and college shall be engraved on the Henry A. Morss Trophy.

The second place team's names and college shall be engraved on the Oxford Trophy.

The name of the third place team's college shall be engraved on the Metropolitan Sailing League Trophy.

The names of the Low Point skipper for A-Division and his/her college shall be engraved on the Robert Allan, Sr. Trophy.

The names of the Low Point skipper for B-Division and his/her college shall be engraved on the Robert Allan, Jr. Trophy.

Keeper trophies, provided by ICSA, shall be awarded to the members of the top three teams.
