ICSA J.F. Kennedy Conditions

SCHEDULING:

This event shall normally be scheduled for Fall week-end #10 on the It ICSA Intersectional calendar.

BERTHS:

The number of berths shall be limited by the number of available boats. The first available boat will be allocated to the U.S. Naval Academy. The next boats will be allocated one to each Regular Member Concerence. Any additional boats or berths which become available will be allocated in the following order: PCIYRA, NEISA, MAISA, MCSA, NEISA, SAlSA, SEISA, MCSA.

ELIGIBILITY:

The participant schools shall be either Regular, Regular-Provisional, or Associate members of a Regular Member Conference.

SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS:

Each Member Conference shall be responsible for the selection of the team(s) to fill its allotted berth(s).

The name of the selected teams are to be forwarded to the ICSA as soon as possible after the year's schedule is finalized, except when the team(s) are selected through an elimination regatta, in which case they are to be forwarded immediately following the regatta.

TEAM MEMBERS:

Each contesting college shall be represented by a team of eight (8) and if desired, two (2) substitutes.

BOATS:

The boats used for this event will be 44 ft. Navy sloops. Each boat shall be rigged for spinnakers and staysails during the event. A Naval Academy Safety Officer shall be aboard each boat during each race.

REGATTA:

An Introductory Skippers' Meeting shall be scheduled for Friday morning. A mandatory practice period shall be scheduled for the remainder of Friday morning. Two races shall be scheduled for Friday afternoon. Three races shall be scheduled fo Saturday, and two races for Sunday.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

The two-turns penalty shall not be used for this event. The final standings for the event shall be based on the finishes of each contesting college in all races as defined in the ICSA Procedural Rules (Scoring).

ICSA will extend an invitation to the highest finishing team in the Kennedy Cup that is willing and able to go to the Student Yachting World Cup in France.

TROPHIES:

The name of the winning college shall be engraved on the John F. Kennedy Memorial Trophy.

The name of the second place team shall be engraved on the Lieutenant Jeff Stanley Memorial Award.

The name of the team keeping its yacht in the best condition during the event shall be engraved on the Judges' Trophy.
