Saturday, September 3: It was a beautiful Day out on Lake Shafer in Monticello, Indiana. The sun was out and the temperature reached 95 degrees. The wind was another story, giving us slow and shifty wind. This along with the heavy boat traffic from Labor Day weekend prevented us from getting as many races as we would have liked. We finished with 6 races for A and 4 for B.
Sunday, September 4: Sunday took away the sun but brought more consistent wind. We had slight drizzles to start the day off but finished with 8 races in each division.

Saturday was a nice sunny day though lacking in wind. After lunch, we were able to get 2 A division races and 1 B division race before the wind died again forcing us to call racing for the day.
Sunday, Following a moment of silence this morning to remember the victims of 9/11 and the soldiers that are fighting for our freedom, we were able to finish the 1st B rotation from yesterday. With the wind finally holding between 3-6 knots, we got 2 A division and 2 B division races in. We finished racing for the day due to the time limit. Congratulations to the Bowling Green sailing team on a great regatta!

Saturday brought great weather on Lake MacBride with south winds at 7-13 kts and temperatures of 65°F. Shifty winds with localized gusts made for challenging conditions on the race course as the RC ran a total of twelve races throughout the day. Sailors enjoyed an onshore lunch of cheeseburgers, chips and lemonade prepared by UISC volunteers. At the end of the day, Wisconsin Badgers 1 and Minnesota Gophers 2 had a comfortable lead over the rest of the fleet with the Badgers in the lead.
Sunday: A low pressure system moved in overnight and sailors were greeted with light rain and cool temperatures Sunday morning. Skies cleared before the start of the first race with winds similar to Saturday's conditions. The RC ran eight races and finished off a complete rotation for a total of 20 races sailed over the two days. Special thanks to the UISC volunteers; Bill, Steve, Doug, Kevin and Joyce. Congratulations to the Wisconsin Badgers for a sweeping victory in the 2011 Davis Cup.

Saturday, September 17: The wind was from the East North East at about 7 building to 10 as the clouds gave way to sunny skies. The Temperature built from the high fifties to the middle sixties. Six races were sailed, but in race one the Race Committee set the starting line to starboard of the committee boat causing confusion and abandonment after a redress hearing. Race one will be re-sailed the as the first race on Sunday. Michigan State took the lead with a string of firsts in the last three races.
Sunday, September 18: The wind was from the north at between 8 and 15 with gusts for the last race the wind shifted to north east. It was sunny with high clouds building in the afternoon. The temperature started out in the high fifties and increased to about 70 during the day. Race 1 was re-sailed followed by Race 7 in the same boats. One mlore race was sailed before a lunch break and another two races were completed before the 3 pm time limit. Michigan State had a great series with bullets in 6 of the 10 races. Bowling Green took first in the last race to edge out Ohio State for 3rd place. Thanks to the Detroit Yacht Club for putting on the event including the hard work of PRO Ed Theisen, and Dockmaster Al Ministerman and the volunteers from the Detroit Yacht Club. George Griswold served as the Chief Judge,

Intersectional Regatta FJ
Saturday, September 17: A light northerly gave way to a sea breeze at about 10 am. Course 3s and 4s were sailed all day in 3-12 mph from the ENE to ESE. The Cougars sailed as if they were at home and consistently picked the shifts to keep in single digits most of the races. Christian Bragdon, Justin Kusiel and Ben Greenfield from BU did a great job of mark tweaking, finishing and updating tech score throughout the day. Franny Charles was the PRO. Much appreciation to the Harvard Sailing Team for loaning their fleet of FJs. The Boston teams all chipped in to honor MIT's third Sailing Master and winner of A Division for BU at college nationals- Hatch Brown. A sea breeze with a bit more pressure is forecast for Sunday. Distinguished Yale alumnus, Jamie Ewing, was on the water as jurist all day. He heard 4 protests which resulted in 2 DSQs and 2 protests were disallowed.
Sunday, September 18: A gorgeous ENE-ESE breeze with big shifts and pressure changes funneled into the Charles River all day at 12-15 mph. Racers sailed from the Longfellow bridge to the Mass Ave bridge on a very large modified W,L,W course. The Cougars are going to rename this place the Charleston River as they took their lead from Saturday and extended it into a 37 point victory over the Beavers from MIT who rallied to haul in the Hawks from Roger Williams in the last A race. Ben Holtzman and Ricky Lopez from BU assisted with scoring today and Charley Cook volunteered to manage the finish boat all day long.

FJ/420
Saturday we had consistent wind, even though it was only blowing 4 miles an hour. We sailed windward/leeward courses and when we got off the water between sets, we had a quick chalk talk with our coach Jamie Jones about sailing tactics and rules. Everyone learned a lot from the instruction and as the day went on, the sailing got better and better.
Sunday came with lighter winds but it blew enough to get some good racing in. On Sunday, we sailed in 420s to get some experience in different types of dingies. Like yesterday, we had off the water instruction after the races. Overall it was a good weekend of light wind sailing where tactics and sailing puff to puff could make or break the race. Every sailor walked away with more knowledge than they came with.
Regatta officials: Race Committee/ Protest Committee: Kris Pfiel (mother of our sailor alumni Carrie Pfiel) Chip Minshal (DU Alumni and parent of our sailor alumni Halle Minshal)
