With only 5 breakdowns, the boats held up pretty well. Sunday morning was windy as expected. With no extra boats it made for nervous spectating by the shore team. With the wind blowing right across the Severn River and the courses set close to the Naval Academy seawall, big shifts made the racing very challenging for the competitors. Six races per division were completed on two courses in the morning and six more were held in the afternoon. All races were four leg windward / leewards with gates and separate start and finish lines. Two protests and two breakdown requests were heard, resulting in one DSQ and two BKDs. After racing, the competitors were treated to a fantastic cookout, courtesy of the Naval Academy Sailing Squadron. Thanks to LCDR John Schedel and his team of midshipmen for getting off twelve solid races in challenging conditions and to Herb Larrabee and Dick Morin for serving as judges. SUNDAY: The wind was out of the same direction as Saturday, but a little stronger, making for another daty of challenging and exciting racing. 8 races were completed on two courses with no lunch break. All 20 races per division were completed by 2:30 PM and many of the teams with long drives were able to get an early start. One more protest and three requests for redress were heard, resulting in one DSQ and two BKDs. Boats: 420/FJ/Laser/Radial (4 div) <verbatim> A B C D TOT 1. St Marys 103 163 165 132 563 2.
